Lucknow: The district malaria officer of Unnao, Ramesh Chandra Yadav was caught in the act by the vigilance establishment while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Monday. The incident unfolded when biologist KK Gupta from the filariasis control unit of Unnao filed a written complaint against Yadav, accusing him of demanding the bribe in return for approving his medical leave. Upon receiving Gupta's complaint, the senior superintendent of police and the UP vigilance establishment verified the accusations, leading to Yadav's arrest after taking the money at the district malaria office in Unnao. The vigilance team retrieved the Rs 10,000 bribe during a thorough search. A case has been filed against Yadav under relevant sections at the UP vigilance station in Lucknow, and legal measures are being pursued.
